Two Left Feet?

Description

They were alone at Titan's Tower. Beast Boy had talked Cyborg and, somehow, Raven into heading downtown for a slice. Robin had opposed, insisting that he should work on a new lead he'd just discovered. He promised he'd hollar if there was danger.

"Whatever you say," commented Cyborg, as him and the other two Titans exitted the massive building.

He and Starfire were now alone.

"Why didn't you go with them?" asked the masked wonder boy.

Starfire merely shrugged. "I am not that hungry," she replied, rubbing the bronzed skin of her upper arm. "And I would like to believe I could be of some assitance to you here."

"Well thanks," Robin said, rubbing the back of his head, gathering black spikes between his fingers. "But, uhm, I think I'm going to relax a little before I get to work."

"Agreed! I heard Cyborg telling Beast Boy about a tape that gave them a case of...the funnies? We should partake in the laughter!"

"Guess it couldn't hurt," Robin agreed with a nod, then, walking to the disk player before their ginormous screen asked, "Is it already in the player."

The alien gave a nod, humming a cheery "Mhm!".

Each took their place on the sofa. Robin with his legs perched on the coffee table, and Starfire close next to him with her hands neatly folded against crossed legs.

The player counted down, like an actual movie reel, and when the images came on screen, Robin's jaw hit the floor.

"HOLD STILL ROBI-POO!" screeched a lanky blonde on the screen. "I WANT TO DANCE!" It was Kitten, Robin's ';prom-date', a day he regretted more than becoming Red-X, an Apprentice for Slade and any other misjudgement of character combined. She was dragging him around the dance floor, his body limp like jello, obviously dreading it. And in the background was a fuming Starfire, steam arising from her glowing green eyes.

"You have GOT to be kidding me!" screeched Robin, flailing about on the sofa. "That was the worst night of my life. And they were planning on reliving it. I swear when they get back!" And from there he continued to growl to himself.

Starfire rose from the couch and crossed the living area slowly. "Well, I enjoyed our dance at the end of the evening," she said timidly, pressing the 'off' button to their television set.

That was when Robin began to stare. She had? Really? And then, he rose too, crossing the room to the stereo set and pushing play on the 4th disc of the set.

Slow music filled Titans Tower. Starfire whirled around, firy hair tumbling over her shoulders. "Robin?" she cooed, blinking several times. But the boy said nothing, just crossed the room to her. Once before her, he extended a hand.

"Care to dance?"

A blush rose on tanned cheeks. Her emerald orbs shifted from his mask to the floor. "But...you do not like the slow dancing."

It was at that moment that his hand met with her waist, pulling her to him. Nose to nose, he whispered to her, "I think I can make an exception."
